Women will run to support women

In collaboration with dm drogerie markt, the Belgrade Marathon will organize the traditional and increasingly popular dm Women’s Race, which will take place at Ada Ciganlija on Sunday, October 6th. The 7.7-kilometer race around Lake Sava will mark its 17th edition and is open to women of all ages. As in previous years, the goal is to promote the importance of physical activity, especially running and walking, as a form of preventive health care, as well as to encourage socializing, solidarity, support, and motivation.

A press conference for the dm Women’s Race was held at the Mona Plaza Hotel. Darko Habuš, Director of the Belgrade Marathon, once again highlighted the significance of this event.

The traditional dm Women’s Race is a running event organized by the Belgrade Marathon, and we are very proud of it as the number of participants grows year after year, clearly indicating an increasing interest in a healthy and active lifestyle among women. This year, thanks to the efforts of the ‘Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon’ Foundation, in collaboration with our title sponsor dm drogerie markt, the dm Women’s Race will also have a humanitarian aspect. Women will run to support women, showing their solidarity while enjoying a unique running experience and pleasant socializing on the course. To prepare for the dm Women’s Race, public training sessions will be held on September 21st and 28th, starting at 9 a.m. at Ada Ciganlija, to ensure that all participants are well-prepared for the race. The friends of the dm Women’s Race are the City of Belgrade and JP Ada Ciganlija, and we thank them for being excellent hosts on Sunday, October 6th at Ada Ciganlija,” emphasized Darko Habuš.

Svetlana Jovanović Mitić, Marketing and Communications Manager at dm Serbia and North Macedonia, spoke about the successful collaboration in organizing the dm Women’s Race:

“Since caring for women’s health is at the top of our priorities, we at dm continue with concrete initiatives and activities to support each other. We are proud that our company is the title sponsor of the dm Women’s Race for the fourth consecutive time, an event that has become a tradition and a symbol of empowering women, sports spirit, and memorable socializing. Therefore, we invite women of all generations to join us in our common goal of sending an important message about the significance of physical activity and maintaining one’s health in every sense. This year’s race is also part of our campaign against menstrual poverty, and we are particularly pleased to once again show that we can truly achieve anything when we unite and support those among us who need help the most,” concluded Svetlana Jovanović Mitić.

After the press conference, the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation organized a humanitarian panel at the Mona Plaza Hotel: WOMEN’S HEALTH IN FOCUS: SPORT, PREVENTION, AND INCLUSION FOR ALL.

The panel covered the following topics: Prevention of the most common running injuries in women, Psychosocial and health aspects of motivating women to engage in running, and Social responsibility. Leading experts from Serbia in these fields discussed these topics.

Since October is dedicated to the fight against breast cancer, the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, in collaboration with the Institute of Public Health of Serbia ‘Dr. Milan Jovanović Batut,’ will provide mammograms during the upcoming event.

All participants of the dm Women’s Race will receive a dri-fit NIKE shirt and gifts from the title sponsor dm as part of their participant package. After completing the 7.7 km, they will be greeted with medals and refreshments at the finish line. Participants can also look forward to a rich entertainment program and socializing starting at 9 a.m., including a group warm-up, zumba, a prize draw, and many other activities. We invite all women who have not yet registered for the dm Women’s Race to do so via the Belgrade Marathon website and show their solidarity with women who need support.
