Sport as a universal value that unites

The representatives of the Belgrade Marathon and mts IRONMAN 70.3 Belgrade signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today, committing to joint efforts in promoting sport as a universal value and educating the youth.

Since both events place Belgrade on the international map of cities that host sports events attracting a large number of tourists, these two organizations will work together in the future to promote Belgrade as a sports-tourism destination, and represent our country at professional fairs and world-renowned running and triathlon events.

The second point they agreed on concerns the education of society, with a special focus on the youth, about healthy lifestyles, proper training, nutrition, and recovery, as well as the importance of engaging in sports as a means of preventing physical and mental health issues.

“We will pay great attention to educating young, future sports professionals from sports faculties about organizing large international sports events, both through workshops and lectures, as well as through practical experience in both organizations. We want to act responsibly and build the next generation of sports professionals, ready to organize major international events that are very important for our country and the development of tourism,” said Darko Habuš, Director of the Belgrade Marathon.

“Ahead of the first IRONMAN race in Serbia, a triathlon spectacle unlike anything seen in our region, I am proud of the partnership we are cultivating with the Belgrade Marathon, which we have formalized today with the Agreement. Serbia is a country of sports, we are achieving excellent results, and we are pleased that by organizing this race we are contributing to the popularization of triathlon, which is considered the fastest-growing sport in the world. The Belgrade Marathon and mts IRONMAN 70.3 Belgrade have placed our capital at the center of significant international sports events, and through our joint cooperation, we will work on promoting Belgrade and Serbia,” said Darko Savić, Chairman of the Board of mts IRONMAN 70.3 Belgrade.
