Kenyans with the most assets in the Belgrade Fast Ten

“The ‘Belgrade Fast Ten,’ a 10-kilometer street race organized by the Belgrade Marathon under the sponsorship of NIKE and the City of Belgrade, will take place on Saturday, September 7th, with the participation of several elite runners. For the second consecutive year, the start and finish of the ’10K Belgrade’ race will be on Nikola Tesla Boulevard, near the Friendship Park at Ušće, and it is expected that, in addition to a large number of participants, an excellent result will be achieved on this course.

The men’s competition is led by Kenyan Kalistus Kimtai Kito, who finished in second place in the same race last year. His major rivals will be his fellow countrymen Hilari Kiptum Majo, Albert Tonui, and Boniface Njiru. The battle for the podium will certainly also include a familiar face to Belgraders, Mohamed El Gouzani, the current runner-up of the Belgrade Half Marathon, as well as another Moroccan, Mohamed El Talhui.

The honor of European running will be defended by Spain’s representatives Younes Kniya, Abderrahmane Aouchar Oukhelfen, and Diego Jiménez, as well as Russian Vyacheslav Sokolov. The participation of the best Serbian runners is also expected, considering that, in cooperation with the Serbian Athletic Federation, this race will also serve as the Serbian championship in the men’s and women’s 10-kilometer categories.

In the women’s category, the most is expected from the Kenyans. Last year’s runner-up, Valentina Jebet, is coming to the capital of Serbia. In addition to her, Glorious Jepkirui, Jemutai Ruto, and Chepkirchir Kibet, also from the renowned African athletic powerhouse, will be running.

Karen Chemusto from Uganda and Violette Ndikengurukiyé from Burundi will try to challenge them. It should be noted that the course in New Belgrade, where the race will take place, is certified by World Athletics. All results will be recognized by this organization and will count in the official calendar of world street races, which is further proof of our quality.

Let us remind you, last year’s ‘Belgrade Ten’ attracted a lot of interest, with over three thousand runners at the starting line. In the men’s competition, Bernard Wambua from Kenya won with a time of 28:26, while in the women’s category, Obukir El-Ohabi Duae from Spain triumphed, finishing the race in 33 minutes and 20 seconds.

Registrations for the race can be made through the Belgrade Marathon website until the end of the week. Registration will also be available at the reception center in the Galerija Shopping Center on Thursday and Friday from 12 PM to 10 PM, and on Saturday from 12 PM to 4 PM.
