Kenyans on top again

Kenya’s Francis Abong and Valentine Jebet were the winners of the fourth edition of the 10K Belgrade Run by NIKE. Abong completed the 10-kilometre course in 28:39, while Jebet crossed the finish line in 32:11.

Viktor Kipkogei finished second in the men’s race, while Weldon Langat took third place. In the women’s race, Jecinta Mwende Kamau finished second, with Chebet Winny taking third.

Among the local runners, Nikola Mijailović was the fastest, clocking 30:34, while in the women’s race, Mejra Mehmedović was the fastest local competitor, finishing in 35:29.

The race was held under the patronage of the City of Belgrade, with 3,500 runners taking part. The Belgrade Fast 10K also marked the start of the second half of the racing season organized by the Belgrade Marathon.

A spectacular race is taking place today despite the warm weather, featuring the national 10K championships and a strong international field.

The field includes 11 athletes from Kenya, including runners with personal bests under 27 minutes.

Coming up next are the women’s race in about a month, the half marathon at the end of November, and the New Year’s race just before the New Year.

“All of these events are a prelude to the main event in April, the European Road Running Championships,” said Darko Habuš, Director of the Belgrade Marathon.
