59th White Cross at Ušće in Friendship Park

The Belgrade Marathon is opening the new running season, and the first race in this year’s calendar will be the traditional White Cross, organized in cooperation with the Serbian Athletics Federation, taking place on Saturday, March 7. The race will be held on the now well-known course at Ušće, in Friendship Park, along the same route that hosted the World Athletics Cross Country Championships two years ago.

It is worth noting that this will be the 59th edition of the White Cross, a renowned running event first held in 1966 in Košutnjak, with the City of Belgrade serving as the official patron of the event.

A total of 10 races will be held, with the competition starting at 10:30 AM. The Army and Police races, in both the men’s and women’s junior and senior categories, will be run over a distance of 1,500 meters. The same distance will be run by older cadet boys and girls, while older junior men and women will compete over a 4.5-kilometer course. The race distance for senior men and women will be six kilometers.

It should be noted that the White Cross holds the World Athletics Bronze Permit Cross Country status, which means that the race meets strict organizational and course quality standards, and that the results achieved at the event allow athletes to earn points for the World Athletics ranking list.

The total prize fund for this year’s 59th White Cross amounts to €4,000.
