The Ušće New Year’s Race was held

With the Ušće New Year’s Race over a distance of five kilometers, the season of street races organized by the Belgrade Marathon has come to an end. A total of 1,000 runners took part on the course in New Belgrade, and according to Darko Habuš, Director of the Belgrade Marathon, all participants who crossed the finish line can be considered winners.

“We concluded the most successful year in the history of the Belgrade Marathon in the best possible way. More than 28,000 runners from all over the world took part in our events this year, setting a new record, which makes us extremely proud. This final race of 2025 was a fun, exhibition event held in the spirit of the upcoming holidays. Gifts from our sponsors and partners were handed out, and we are especially pleased that this race also sold out several days before the start, continuing the positive trend that began in October with the Women’s Race. This is yet another confirmation of the mutual trust we are building with our runners—a relationship we truly value—as well as proof that our running community continues to grow, which makes us particularly happy,” said Habuš.

The “Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon” Foundation once again placed this running event in the service of humanitarian causes.

“A humanitarian medal engraving initiative was organized, with a contribution of 500 dinars, and all proceeds will be directed toward supporting people with disabilities,” Habuš explained.

He announced that preparations for the upcoming running season are already well underway:

“The main focus will certainly be the 39th Belgrade Marathon, which will be held over two days for the first time in its history.” – 18. on April 18 and 19. The half marathon will start on Saturday, April 18, in the morning. The 10-kilometer race will take place later that same day in the afternoon, while the marathon is scheduled to start on Sunday morning. This will bring an entirely new atmosphere and experience for our runners, as well as an opportunity to further develop the largest sporting event in Serbia in terms of participation. At the same time, it will serve as a dress rehearsal for the European Running Championships over 10, 21, and 42 kilometers, which Belgrade will host in 2027,” Habuš concluded.

Although the Ušće New Year’s Race did not have a competitive character, it is worth noting that in the women’s competition first place was won by Nora Trklja Boca, followed by Iva Kosanović in second place, while third place went to Sara Milenković.

Among the male runners, the fastest was Vjačeslav Sokolov, with Miljan Kukuljic taking second place and Denis Firulovic finishing third.
