Official Statement of the Belgrade Marathon

Dear runners and followers of our social media pages,

Due to the large number of comments following our recent post about the route change for the 6th Sava Insurance Belgrade Half Marathon, we would like to address you to clarify this decision — one that was not easy for anyone on our management or technical team.

As an experienced and responsible organizer of all races the Belgrade Marathon has held over the past 38 years, we would like to inform you that the course was changed for organizational, technical, and sporting reasons, following the recommendation and with the approval of European Athletics (EA), with whom we will co-host the European Road Running Championships at the 40th Belgrade Marathon in 2027.

After carefully reviewing all organizational circumstances and limitations in the pre-start, start, and finish zones, we concluded that holding the event at the original location could negatively affect the quality and flow of the planned programs.

Due to the late notice regarding the route change, runners who choose not to participate in this year’s event may transfer their registration to either the half marathon or the 10K race at the 39th Belgrade Marathon, taking place on April 18–19. 4. 2026. year. Caring for all of you who make up the running community in Serbia, as well as those joining us from around the world—driven by our deep love for sports and running—represents our ultimate goal.
