The second group of children with disabilities is recovering at the Red Cross camp in Bogovađa.
Thursday, 31. July 2025
In line with its core mission – improving the status of people with disabilities – the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, in cooperation with the Sports Association of People with Disabilities of Belgrade and the Red Cross of Belgrade, supported the stay of the second group of children with disabilities at the Red Cross resort in Bogovađa.

This is the second year in a row that children with disabilities have the opportunity to spend time in nature, socialize, build confidence, and prepare for the upcoming fall sports season.
Darko Habuš, Director of the Belgrade Marathon and Manager of the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, stated on this occasion:
“We love it most when summer comes because we know we’ll be spending time with the children at the camp in Bogovađa. In general, my favorite part of the job is the work we do through the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation. The joy children and people with disabilities show when we offer them support is immediate, genuine, and deeply motivating for everything we do going forward.”

Today we came to visit the kids at the camp — we just finished a football match, and it was a close game right until the end.
What’s especially important to us is that the children stay at the camp without their parents, which puts the focus on developing their social skills and a wide range of other abilities.
Interest in the camp is higher than last year, so we hope to have three or even four groups next year.

The children’s camp program is made possible through the joint cooperation of the Foundation, the Sports Association of People with Disabilities of Belgrade, and the Red Cross of Belgrade.
Nikola Prica, Secretary of the Red Cross of Belgrade, emphasized the importance of this program:
“The recovery of the first group, who stayed at the camp from July 1st to 6th, went wonderfully. This valuable cooperation with the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation and the Sports Association of People with Disabilities made it possible for the second group of children to also enjoy nature, activities, and socializing, thanks to the donated funds.”

Nemanja Radović, General Secretary of the Sports Association of People with Disabilities of Belgrade, also conveyed:
“We say that our participants are going for recovery, but in reality, it’s an opportunity for genuine socializing and enjoying nature. We don’t make any distinctions — everyone is welcome, regardless of their type of disability.”

Darko Habuš further expressed his gratitude to all the partners and supporters of the program:
“This initiative is the result of the excellent cooperation between the Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon Foundation, the Red Cross of Belgrade, and the Sports Association of People with Disabilities of Belgrade. Thanks to this joint effort, today we are sending off the second group of children with disabilities to stay in Bogovađa. The first group has already achieved great results — progress in self-confidence, socialization, and daily skills. This shows how much experiences like these mean, not only to the children but also to their families.”
I would especially like to thank the running community and everyone who supported the “SMS for a Kilometer” campaign. By sending the message HEROJI to 3023, many literally turned their kilometers traveled into someone’s smile and a shared experience in nature. Thank you to everyone who showed that kindness has the power to move both the heart and society.

The summer stay at the resort in Bogovađa represents not only recovery but also a powerful message of unity, inclusion, and support for those who need it most.
