Everything is ready for the 38th Comtrade Belgrade Marathon.

The countdown to the start of the 38th Comtrade Belgrade Marathon has begun. Over 14,000 participants from 74 countries worldwide will set off on Sunday, April 6, at 8:00 AM near St. Mark’s Church, with the finish line traditionally located at the Moskva Hotel on Terazije.

The host of the press conference ahead of Serbia’s largest sporting event was Nikola Nikodijević, President of the Belgrade City Assembly.
“The marathon is not just a sporting event but also a cultural and tourist manifestation. A large number of people follow and report on the marathon, and it is important that we present a positive image of Belgrade. This can bring us significant benefits.”

Darko Habuš, the head of the Belgrade Marathon, is proud of this year’s numbers.

“We owe great gratitude to the City of Belgrade and the Ministry of Sports, as we are spreading energy and sportsmanship together. The Belgrade Marathon is much more than just a running event, and we want to provide a complete experience for everyone who attends.
We expect a strong and fast group of elite runners from Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda, and we truly believe their times will be at the level of breaking the course record. The forecast predicts temperatures of 8 to 9 degrees Celsius and dry weather, which should be favorable for the competitors,” said Habuš.

It is important to highlight that the Belgrade Marathon will also serve as the national championship in the 42-kilometer race.
“We are especially pleased that this year’s Belgrade Marathon is taking place on April 6, which is the International Day of Sport, adding special symbolism to our event.
An important note for those who have not yet secured their race entry: registration for the marathon and half-marathon is still available at our Running EXPO in Hall 2A of the Belgrade Fair, open until Saturday.”

Special recognition goes to the people behind the scenes.

“Around 3,000 people, including all support services, will be working on organizing the event. Refreshment stations will be placed every 2.5 kilometers. We have secured 100,000 bottles of water, 30,000 bottles of isotonic drinks, five tons of bananas, and three tons of apples to help ease the physical demands of these challenging races.
I would like to invite all our fellow citizens to participate in the Fun Run or to come out and support the marathon runners.
I would also like to highlight our Heroes of the Belgrade Marathon foundation, through which we support people with disabilities. By sending an SMS with the word HEROJI to 3023, participants can ‘purchase’ kilometers, with all proceeds going to assist people with disabilities who are regular participants in all races we organize,” emphasized Habuš.

All technical preparations are nearly complete, as highlighted by Darko Glavaš, the City Secretary for Defense, Emergency Situations, and Coordination. He emphasized that the event is a joint effort between the city and the state to ensure that the largest sporting event in our country runs smoothly.

“Even 129 city bus routes will have altered paths, and the street closures in the start and finish zones will begin on Saturday. Full traffic normalization is expected on Sunday around 5:00 PM,” emphasized Glavaš.

Marko Kešelj, the State Secretary for Sports, will personally support the runners.

“The Belgrade Marathon is one of the most important events in our country, which we have been supporting for years. We will once again show that we are a European and global sports capital,” emphasized Kešelj.

Nikola Penić, the City Secretary for Sports and a former athlete, wished all marathon runners the best possible results, while Isidora Lukić, on behalf of the Family Day organizers, expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with the Belgrade Marathon.
