Belgrade and Xiamen Marathons sign a memorandum of cooperation.

A memorandum of friendship was signed between the Belgrade and Xiamen Marathons at a press conference in the coastal city of Xiamen in the Fujian province of China. The conference was held ahead of the Xiamen Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, April 2nd, 2023, which is expected to have over 35,000 participants from all over the world.

“I am honored to sign a memorandum of friendship on behalf of the Belgrade Marathon with the Xiamen Marathon. This way, the Belgrade Marathon family has gained another member. It is very significant for us to connect with such a large and important marathon, from which we can learn. With this collaboration, we want to create the best conditions for both Serbian marathon runners who would visit Xiamen, as well as for all those participants who would come to the Belgrade Marathon from China, which is a big and important market for us. In this exchange of runners, a very important role is played by the direct air link that has been established between Serbia and China,” said Darko Habuš, director of the Belgrade Marathon.

The Xiamen Marathon is the largest running event in China, which before COVID counted over 50,000 participants. The marathon route is very attractive, as it stretches along the entire coastline. The Xiamen Marathon is organized according to the highest running standards and is considered one of the best-organized marathons in the world. They are also very environmentally conscious, as only eco-vehicles are used during the organization of the marathon. The Xiamen Marathon has been recognized by world athletics and is the holder of the highly esteemed “Platinum Road Race Lebel” mark.
